The Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) conducted rigorous tests, validating the accuracy and effectiveness of the First Sight process compared to the costly, customary equipment used for testing those with impaired eyesight. The results demonstrated that the First Sight technique is within 100% accuracy when compared with the high-tech methods. UNMC medical teams also conducted successful field tests in Haiti, empowering local, untrained staff to provide the “gift of sight” to participants resulting in extremely positive outcomes. This Clinical trial clearly demonstrated the accuracy and effectiveness of First Sight glasses, ensuring clear vision for those in need.
First Sight is highly effective in detecting and correcting refractive errors and delivers results comparable to the gold standard of manifest refraction. This technique holds promise in its ability to reliably and cost-effectively treat refractive error, even in the hands of non-ophthalmic personnel.
